About Me

Hi everyone

Welcome to --Harold's Blog - 2

After doing this blogging and social media thing since 2007, I've had too many blogs and well over 5,000 posts, I decided to simplify my life over the past year and keep one active blog moving forward. I don't see me getting a domain name and probably will just keep this a blogspot.com blog for a long while to see how I like it here.

I'm going to keep things simple this time around.

For now, my interests center around running and playing table top role playing games like Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder, along with splashing paint on a few miniatures. However, what I'll be writing about for the most part are the adventures of whoever my most recent character is and how heroic that character is.

While I'm no longer in the injured runner class, writing about my daily 2-4 miles on the treadmill or in front of the house when the weather permits are pretty boring both to write about or read. If I get into a race at some point or find a magical pair of running shoes, I might throw it out there for the world to know that I thought about it. I started running again in September 2023 while dealing with a knee injury (rototilling the garden, not running), the more invasive surgery than predicted, and much longer than expected recovery.

Knowing me me, I'll eventually add in writing about how I use technology to complicate my life at some point. Then simply to show that just because I'm getting old, life ain't no where near over, some daily mundane stuff which is a part of a good life, and at the same time keep saying that I'm going to simplify my life wherever I can.

I'm not going to talk too much about politics and religion, everyone has their own opinions on those subjects and I'd prefer not to get into pissing contests about who's right, wrong, or indifferent. Yeah, I also swear a bit so that you know it's me talking not something that I could write with AI. I'll let you know when I use tech to help me write an article.

I somehow managed to spend over 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, then became a Special Education teacher, before attempting to be a no-so-great blogger. Now, I am retired and starting to struggle with some of the physical and/or mental changes that I have no control over. It's all part of the deal, if we are lucky enough to stick around this long.

At some point in the next 10-20 years it's likely that I will die and think about that a bit more than I used to. Father Time or the Grim Reaper if you like, is unbeaten as far as we know, but I have a feeling he enjoys a good laugh now and then. So I plan to keep tinkering with the gonna keep living forever idea and have fun while I'm here, and hope he chuckles at my lame efforts to stay half a step ahead of him. At least until he finally decides to catch me, as we race across the Rainbow Bridge to whatever comes next.

Keep smiling, run with the wind, be the hero you were meant to be, and never give up.
